Whoops! Another lesson learned

When coaching others, there are some things that I like to drill home. One is the need to get right information before making decisions, even when time is stretched or busy moments pervade. Making assumptions is always dangerous, assumptions based on 2nd hand information, equally so. I learned this lesson at cost this morning. Normally, I am pretty good at getting information from both sides, sometimes it doesn’t go to plan. I am having to deal with an issue where I made a decision based on 2nd hand information from what I believed was a reliable source, it was not, it was full of personal opinion that had enough for me to accept information as complete truth….There lies the mistake. Thankfully, this one was easily redeemable.
Reminder to self: go to the source, don’t rely on others, their information may not always be accurate.
Hopefully a lesson learned.
