anonymity….ever a right time?

anonymity is a strange thing. In the last few days I have had 2 “anonymous” contacts, one on this blog and one via a different format. It led me to ask the question…”is there a right time to stay anonymous?”
I think there is……but usually it is exceptional as anonymity is often centred around negative things. Any thoughts?

If it is negative and people do not have the confidence to say it in person, then it should not be said at all in my opinion. I find it a struggle to understand people who have issues but are not prepared or willing to discuss them. Doing things anonymously can be hurtful and cowardly.

PS – I forgot to say that I do not think it is very Godly way of doing things. Jesus did not send secret messages to His disciples!!

Gee and I just thought I was being humurous not negative, but then I guess some people don’t have a sense of humour. As for your other format anonymous contact I can’t say but maybe they felt the same way.

a nony…..I was trying not to be negative in the post, it was not a dig at anonymity but trying to understand why some people choose it. As for your last comment, I must admit that I did not know if it was positive or negative, cos I did not even understand it. ๐Ÿ˜‰
As for the other contact – would be fair to say that it was not based on humour, its intent was fairly obvious.

A nony – the reason I didn’t reply was that I didn’t understand it either! A problem with communicating rather than a lack of a sense of humour, perhaps?

Roy: Sorry I wasn’t having a go at you rather responding to Roothie’s comments. I tend to leave anonymous comments now having been cyber harrassed in the past.

Roy/Amanda: The humour – Roy had posted several ‘I wish’ comments about things he did and Amanda’s comment began ‘I often feel the same… ‘. I think she meant about herself but the ambiguity of her comment, she might have meant about Roy …. struck me as amusing. Hence the smiley face on my comment, though it’s a bummer when I have to explain the joke!

Roothie: I’ve met you and Roy a couple of times when I’ve been at NFlame with friends although I doubt your remember me as we only ever exchanged a few words. I thought your comments were over the top as people can have good reasons to wish to remain anonymous as I pointed out above. I’m not sure what ‘cycle’ I’m breaking having only commented twice on here but my name is Sam Goodwin for what it’s worth.

  7. Amanda says:

Oooh I get the comment now Sam. You’d be surprised how many people have to explain their jokes to me. Bless me.

  8. Roy says:

sam – no problem, get the joke now (think you have been to my joke telling school!!)
As for the anonymous – just bad timing for you as your anonymity coincided with something else that was not so humour focussed…..put it down to unfortunate coincidence…

on another note…..loads of comments on one post, almost makes me feel important lol ๐Ÿ˜‰
